NFL insider: Texans rejected blockbuster trade offer for Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans are trying to trade quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Deshaun Watson has played his last game for the Houston Texans.

That’s according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, who had an update Sunday on the three-time Pro Bowl selection.

The 25-year-old Watson requested a trade before the 2021 season began, and the Texans are doing their best to accommodate him. But complicating matters are the sexual assault allegations Watson is facing.

Watson did not play in Sunday’s 37-21 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Glazer reporting the Texans are all-in on quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.

I don’t see a scenario where Deshaun Watson ever plays for the Houston Texans again. ... Lately, they’ve let it be known he could be trade for three ones, plus a combination of three picks or players. They already had that. They had three 1′s and three 3′s going into the NFL Draft. They had four teams who were really interested back then. They said absolutely not, we’re not trading him, weren’t taking any of the offers. ... And those four teams, most of them have all dropped out, by the way.

Among the teams linked in the past to Watson are the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s worth noting the Eagles have at least two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, and could pick up a third depending on how much playing time Carson Wentz gets this season with the Indianapolis Colts.
