Chicago Bears rookie QB Justin Fields made his first-ever NFL appearance on Sunday and head coach Matt Nagy was clearly impressed with the 22-year-old. Despite the 34-14 loss against the Los Angeles Rams on opening night, the 11th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft held his own and made the most out of his limited time on the field.

Fields, who was playing behind starting QB Andy Dalton, only had a few opportunities but he proved that he didn't need much to have an impressive professional debut.

“The times that he got in there, he did well. We'll continue to keep growing stuff.” Nagy said of Fields (via Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic).

It took Nagy just four plays before finally putting the young QB in. And, on his first-ever NFL play, the young Georgia native instantly connected with a 9-yard pass to Marquise Goodwin despite the pressure from Rams' star defender in Aaron Donald (via NFL):

Later in the game, Fields managed to score the first TD in his NFL career with a 3-year rush as he escaped a few tackles and leaped his way to the end zone (via NFL):

Fields is coming into his rookie campaign with a ton of hype surrounding him after finishing his collegiate stint winning back-to-back Offensive Player of the Year awards which he carried with him in a promising preseason showing.

If you think that Matt Nagy's decision on who his starting QB is prior to the start of the season was hard, well then we might have to rethink that now that Fields has clearly proven that he deserves a second look as the Bear's number one option.
