Yankees, Mets benches clear following Giancarlo Stanton home run and jawing at Francisco Lindor

NEW YORK — As if this weekend's Subway Series didn't have enough fire and emotion on both sides, the rivalry received another jolt.

In the top of the seventh inning, Giancarlo Stanton launched a game-tying, 443-foot home run off Mets reliever Brad Hand.

As Stanton rounded the bases, he stopped, turned around and looked at Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor. Stanton had words for Lindor during his home run trot.

Players from both dugouts walked the field, though order was restored pretty quickly.

In the bottom of the sixth, Francisco Lindor homered for the second time and whistled toward the Yankees players as he rounded the bases, a shot at the team the Mets believed to be whistling to let their batters know what pitch was coming.

Brett Gardner was among the more fired-up Yankees, broadly gesturing a thumbs-down toward Lindor and Javier Baez.

Meanwhile, Aaron Judge was in the middle of the gathering of Mets and Yankees.

Judge had exited the game in the third inning, due to dizziness, after striking out in two at-bats.
