The Philadelphia Eagles had a soaring start to their NFL season, handily beating the Atlanta Falcons 32-6. The highlight of their match was this epic connection between former Alabama teammates Jalen Hurts and rookie DeVonta Smith for Smith's first NFL touchdown.

DeVonta Smith: “It came down to seeing the coverage that we wanted. We repped it a lot [in practice,] when I saw it was man, I knew that it was going to be that play.”

Jalen Hurts: “I appreciate the confidence he has and shows to say that. That’s a testament to the hard work that we put in and all the effort we put into it. It’s something we worked on, we got the look we wanted, and we hit it. His first catch was a touchdown. … It’s like old times.”

The former Alabama duo was a force to be reckoned with for the Philadelphia Eagles in their first game in the NFL. Unfortunately, the Falcons defense learned that the hard way. Jalen Hurts frequently went to DeVonta Smith during the game, with the second-year Eagles QB throwing six passes to the rookie wide receiver for 71 yards and one touchdown.

Despite missing a good chunk of the off-season due to a stomach bug and mandatory rest, Hurts looked like every bit of the franchise quarterback the Eagles want him to be. With his long-time buddy Smith by his side, Hurts the Eagles are looking like a serious threat today and in the future.
