No one does it like Lil Nas X, and he just proved it with his 2021 MTV Video Music Awards performance.

Ahead of the release of his first album (and baby), Montero, Lil Nas X took the VMAs stage for a special performance of his newest hit song "Industry Baby" with Jack Harlow. He also did a quick rendition of "Call Me By Your Name."

Keeping up with the album's powerful visuals, Lil Nas wore a pink band conductor's uniform to start, then took that off so he was just wearing the pants, but then took those off to reveal a pair of pink sparkly bike shorts! As Lil Nas X is known to do, he and the backup dancers got really...steamy on the stage.

This is the rapper's big return to the VMAs stage after performing "Panini" way back in 2019. He also took home the two awards that night for Song of the Year and Best Direction for "Old Town Road."

This year, Lil Nas X is nominated for five (!!) awards for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" including one for Video of the Year. He is also co-nominated for Song of the Summer with Jack Harlow for "Industry Baby."

Even before he was announced as a performer, Lil Nas hinted that he would join the VMAs performing lineup after posting a video on Twitter with the caption, "me supporting jack harlow when we perform industry baby at the vmas."

Of course, as with any Lil Nas X performance, he went even more above and beyond than fans could have imagined! Who else is even more excited for the rest of the Montero era?
