The Chicago White Sox pulled out a big series win over the Boston Red Sox. The Sunday afternoon game was a rubber match as the White Sox and Red Sox split the two games beforehand. It wasn’t a pretty series win but they got the job done. Leury Garcia’s magic was the biggest key to winning the game as he came up clutch in the end.

The White Sox had a 1-0 lead for a good portion of the game. Craig Kimbrel, unfortunately, had some spotty command early in the ninth inning. He got it back but unfortunately, the tying run was surrendered. Going into the bottom of the ninth tied at one, the White Sox knew that they needed a hero.

Eloy Jimenez and Yasmani Grandal are two players that you would expect to hit a walk-off home run to win the game and the series but they both struck out. Down 0-2, Leury Garcia was in danger of the White Sox going to extra innings for the second straight day. He then hit a home run to straightaway center to give the White Sox a 2-1 win.

It was a great way to end a tough series. Lance Lynn started the game for the White Sox and he was brilliant. It was his first game back from the 10-day IL and he didn’t miss a beat. He didn’t give up a run and allowed the bullpen to take care of business until the end. It is good to see him back and dominant against a very good Red Sox lineup.

The Chicago White Sox took a big series from the Boston Red Sox this weekend.

This was the second game in a row where Garcia hit a home run. It was his fifth of the season so you know that he doesn’t hit that many. He had three before this series began so he wasn’t expected to be a source of power. Luckily, that is how baseball works as the most unlikely players seem to come up clutch at the best times.

The White Sox used their entire roster in this series against Boston. They will have an off-day on Monday to rest and be ready for Tuesday. They will begin a series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It is going to be a lot of fun watching those two teams compete as there are some great stars on both sides. Hopefully, there are more clutch moments to get this team some big wins down the stretch. With the Cleveland Indians’ loss today as well, the magic number now drops to nine.
