Jesse Eisenberg Reveals Whether Lex Luthor Was Part of Ben Affleck's Batman Movie

There is little doubt that Lex Luthor was expected to continue appearing in the DC Extended Universe. After all, the Justice League post-credits scene pretty much confirmed that he was teaming up with Deathstroke and possibly more villains.

So was Lex initially set to show up in Ben Affleck's cancelled Batman movie? Jesse Eisenberg has spoken up about his character's possible return in the discontinued DCEU project.

In Zack Snyder's Justice League, the post-credits scene featured Deathstroke meeting with Luthor, who tries to persuade Slade Wilson to work with him. To convince Deathstroke, Luthor reveals Batman's true identity.

It's a surprising scene that led to speculations that the scene was leading up to the events in Affleck's cancelled Batman movie. However, Eisenberg told ComicBookMovie that although he's eager to reprise the role, he hasn't heard plans for Luthor's return just yet, not even for Affleck's project or the Robert Pattinson's upcoming movie.

"Oh, yeah. Yeah, of course. Also, if there were [plans for The Batman], I didn't know about them," Eisenberg said. "Otherwise, I'd have some great material, but I didn't know about it!"

It's pretty strange that people are thinking about Luthor being a part of a Batman movie although he's a Superman villain. However, it would make sense considering that the character had a connection to Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It's unfortunate that we won't get to see Luthor's return soon but it could be something to look forward to in the future. Will he return in Man of Steel 2? Fans are certainly hoping that it would happen.

Eisenberg's latest project Wild Indian premiered on September 3.
