Former EastEnders star Rob Kazinsky has been rumoured to be making a return to the soap as Sean Slater.

The Daily Star has published photos of the actor outside the BBC soap's set in Elstree and writes that he is making a comeback as Sean.

These reports are currently unconfirmed and the BBC has told Digital Spy that it will not be commenting on the speculation.

Sean arrived in Walford in 2006 as the troubled older brother of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and the son of Jean Slater (Gillian Wright). During his time on the Square he enjoyed romances with Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner), Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) and Chelsea Fox (played by Tiana Benjamin at the time, now played by Zaraah Abrahams).

He later started a relationship with Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and believed that he was the father of her daughter Amy. His devastation after finding out the truth – that Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was Amy's real father – led him to almost drown himself, Roxy and Amy after he drove them into a lake.

After disappearing from Walford in 2009, Sean returned in 2019 to see his mum Jean after her diagnosis with ovarian cancer. Despite some clashes with Jack, Sean spent most of his second stint on the Square reconciling with Jean and he was last seen saying an emotional goodbye to her.

Since leaving EastEnders, Rob has taken on a number of high-profile roles in the US, starring in True Blood, Pacific Rim, Warcraft and Captain Marvel. He is also due to star in Anthony and Joe Russo's new action thriller, The Gray Man.

Following his most recent appearance in EastEnders two years ago, the actor said that he would be open to returning again if "a great job offer" arose, adding: "As long as producer Kate Oates, [and performers] Gillian Wright, Lacey Turner and Jake Wood are at EastEnders, there's always a possibility."

While Jake recently departed his role as Max Branning, Kate, Gillian and Lacey are all still on board the soap so it seems that most of his criteria has been met.

In April this year, rumours circulated that Charlie Brooks was returning to EastEnders as the iconic Janine Butcher after seven years away, before it was later officially confirmed in June. Janine arrived back on our screens with a bang earlier this month.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
