PHYSIO PRAISE

Liverpool's chief physio Chris Morgan says he feels "indebted" to his Leeds United counterpart Rob Price for how he and his team responded to Harvey Elliott's ankle injury.

The 18-year-old Reds starlet hand to be stretchered off at Elland Road during Liverpool's 3-0 win against Leeds after Pascal Struijk's tackle from behind.

On LinkedIn Morgan wrote:  "Rob Price and his team really treated him as they would one of their own.

"Thankfully those injuries are rare but the shared training we do as part of the FA led ATMMIF courses really comes into its own in those moments and to have paramedics on hand is always hugely reassuring."

REF ROW

Dermot Gallagher and Gary Neville have disagreed with each other on referee Craig Pawson's decision to send off Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk during Leeds loss to Liverpool.

The defender was given his marching after his tackle on Harvey Elliott, 18, during the Sunday evening fixture.

The incident, which led to a grim-looking dislocation of the teenager's ankle, marred the Reds' 3-0 win Elland Road.

Former Prem ref Gallagher told Sky Sports: "You've got to be very careful to keep the two separate, but, in this instance, you look at it and the result and it's very difficult to say it isn't a red card for that injury."

However former United defender Neville said: “I didn’t think it was a red card.

"I thought it was a red card based on the severity of the injury rather than the severity of the challenge.”

PHYS WHIZZ

Liverpool's head physio Chris Morgan praised Leeds United's Rob Price and his medical staff for their assistance following Harvey Elliott's horror ankle injury.

Morgan and his colleagues were treating Elliott just seconds after he hit the turf as they attempted to manoeuvre his ankle back into place.

McCoist told talkSPORT: "I think Klopp could have been a bit better with the Leeds player.

"Obviously the main thing is the injury to Harvey Elliott and we wish him a speedy recovery.

"But it wasn’t a bad tackle, it wasn’t a red card. It was awkward, that’s all it was."

RED CARD APPEAL

Mark Clattenburg reckons Leeds may opt to appeal against the red card given to defender Pascal Struijk for his challenge on Harvey Elliott.

The tackle from behind caused the 18-year-old to dislocate his ankle.

At the time referee, Craig Pawson did not judge the tackle worthy of blowing his whistle for a foul or a red card, until VAR intervened.

Clattenburg said: "Craig Pawson didn't even blow for a foul. As far as he was concerned, Struijk won the ball fairly.

"But VAR Darren England assessed the incident and because the injury was so bad, the officials reacted with a red for Struijk."
