Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is one of the fanciest hotels in Walt Disney World (and is also one of the priciest!). It is one of the three resorts on the Monorail Loop and is within walking distance of Disney’s Magic Kingdom through the Grand Floridian Walkway.
Today, we’re taking you on a tour of a room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort!
Resort Atmosphere
The Grand Floridian is a Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World on the Seven Seas Lagoon.
This resort is full of tropical palm trees, stunning views, and lush greenery.
There are two pools for you to enjoy, as well as several fine dining locations, such as Citricos, Narcoossee’s, Victoria & Albert’s, and a character dining location (the latter two are not currently open).
Inside, there is a grand lobby and plenty of seating!

After exploring the resort, we were ready to head up to our room!
Room Tour
The first thing we noticed when we walked into our room was a huge sliding glass door with a beautiful outside view.
As we entered, we passed a closet with plenty of hangers and extra pillows…
…as well as the bathroom!
As a deluxe resort, you can expect plenty of complimentary H2O+ Beauty products, like this sea salt facial soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
There are two sinks with plenty of counter space, as well as a large mirror perfect for getting ready in the morning!
In the main part of our room, there were two queen beds and a pull-out sofa bed.
Our room had minimal decorations, but we did love this swan artwork on the wall!
The bedside table had two large drawers, an alarm clock, and the resort phone!
The bedside table had one USB outlet and one regular outlet.
The beds featured a simple tufted headboard and included plenty of soft pillows!
Across from the beds, we had a nice-sized television, lots of drawers for storage, and additional outlets for charging.
The sofa bed was quite large, and instructions on how to set it up were provided on the counter under the TV. There was also a nice mirror above the sofa bed!
There was also a small desk next to the balcony and a rolling table for additional table space! Can you spot that hidden Mickey on the desk chair?
As we’ve seen in other rooms since Walt Disney World reopened, there were notes on the enhanced cleaning measures being taken within each hotel room.
The view outside was so pretty!
Our balcony had plenty of extra space to stand, but there was also a table and chairs for people-watching!
We could even see a little bit of the water from our balcony!
Back inside, we had to take a moment to point out these teeny-tiny little hidden Mickey heads! It’s the little details that we seem to appreciate the most.
Although there are lots of great dining options at the Grand Floridian Resort, some nights we just want to stay in! Luckily, there is a room service menu full of options!
You can order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from the in-room dining menu, as well as drinks!
Speaking of drinks, our room came with a Keurig machine and plenty of cups for a little morning caffeine before we hit the parks!
One particularly special detail you’ll find in the room? This stunning light fixture!
Our room was full of calming colors and subtle Disney details, but that balcony was the real star of the show! How can you not love that view?
Overall impression
We stayed in the Sugarloaf Key building and felt that the overall room was very nice! We really appreciated the little touches, like the chandelier in the front of the room. The size felt nice and spacious, and our building was pretty close to the main building! Keep in mind, the Grand Floridian is pricey, so it might be worth it for your family to either splurge on a fireworks view, or stay somewhere else to get the most for your money!

I cannot imagine the cachet of a room like this.
Gone are the luxurious bedspreads and hints of Wind in the Willows in the decorating. I bought one used and still enjoy it.
The hotel is an overpriced generic magnet for the pretentious.
Unless you are visibly a registered guest, ‘the help’ has always been condescending.
We were scheduled to stay at wilderness lodge several years ago, but they upgraded us to the Grand Floridian because of the construction at Wilderness. It was amazing! The room was huge and beautiful. We had a view of the river, so we watched the Electric Light Pageant from our room and spent plenty of time on the balcony. The amenities in the room were fabulous and the bed was super comfy, so we got great sleep! The orchestra and overall vibe in the main area were relaxing and welcoming. My parents and I (all adults) fell in love with the place! None of us wanted to leave.
I stayed there in April on my own…first trip since Husband died after long cancer battle. Originally booked elsewhere that resort was closed so Disney moved me and I didn’t pay Floridian prices. This had been our dream stay for years so I was thrilled….it was ok but was disappointed. No Park Faire for meals…no orchestra in lobby….a couple of problems with room….honestly? Glad I wasn’t paying for this. Kept wondering what the big deal is?
While I like visiting the GF, the rooms are outdated as compared to the renovations recently made to the Yacht Club, Polynesian, soon the Contemporary, etc.
Cute post, but the glory days of the Grand Floridian are behind it, unfortunately. With amenities cut, the elimination of the GF Orchestra, the destruction of Mizner’s (still waiting to hear what Beauty and the Beast has to do with “Old Florida”), and the continued closure of 1900 park Fair and Victoria and Alberts, it’s a shell of what it used to be. Not only that but the price keeps going up and up and up! I’m a DVC member, and this is my home resort, but saddened and angered that just about everything that sold me on becoming a member has been either eliminated or destroyed. The GF just isn’t that grand anymore, and not worth it.
Two years in a row we took our grandchildren to the grand Floridian resort, paid for a room overlooking the seven seas lagoon, both times we had obstructed views, very disappointed, will not stay there again.
Looks like a motel 6 not a delux resort
My daughter and I have a special trip planned for December this year. We are splurging on a first class trip after a really challenging year. We will be at the Grand Floridian with Theme Park view in the main building. A special experience above our normal visit to the Caribbean Beach Resort.
I stayed at the Grand Floridian the first year it opened in the 80s. The rooms were beautifully decorated in pastel colors and with Victorian style. Boy, what a let down! This room could be in any hotel in the world. No style, nothing, other than a couple of Mickey’s, say Disney. And this is $700 a night?
