England all-rounder Chris Woakes took 3-40 on his first County Championship start in three years as Warwickshire fought back well on another day of falling wickets against Yorkshire.
After being put in, despite Michael Burgess's 66, the Bears were bowled out for 155, pacemen Steve Patterson and Ben Coad each taking four wickets.
But the Tykes then tumbled to 95-8 by the close, saved only by Gary Ballance.
The England batsman was unbeaten on 51 when play was cut short by bad light.
Woakes' success was capped by the removal of international team-mate Dawid Malan, with both playing for their counties after England's fifth Test against India - across the Pennines in Manchester - cancelled on Friday.
Woakes had Malan caught cutting to point, while fellow Bears pacemen Liam Norwell (3-25) and Craig Miles (2-11) also helped take the tally of wickets to fall in the day to 18.

On the first day of Warwickshire's Championship game with Hampshire at Edgbaston last week, 20 wickets fell - and but for the loss of the day's final 12 overs and two balls, that figure might again have been matched.
As it is, Yorkshire will resume in the morning still 60 runs adrift with skipper Patterson on one, with only Coad to come.
Earlier Patterson took his tally of first-class career wickets to 450, while Coad struck with successive deliveries, getting Will Rhodes caught behind and Sam Hain caught at point off the shoulder of the bat in the seventh over, before also having 17-year-old first-class debutant Jacob Bethell caught behind.
Yorkshire began this game on 38.5 points, joint second in the Division One table with Hampshire, 10.5 behind leaders Nottinghamshire, with Warwickshire in fourth on 36.
Yorkshire captain Steve Patterson:
"I didn't realise I'd taken 450 wickets, to be honest. It's just nice to contribute again after taking no wickets at Scarborough and against Hampshire.
"We did a decent job with the ball. We certainly didn't bowl as well as we did in the last couple of weeks discipline wise. But we bowled enough wicket-taking deliveries.
"We were happy with that score, but we haven't played well enough with the bat. We are a bit behind where we want to be."
Warwickshire and England all-rounder Chris Woakes told BBC Radio WM:
"It's a relatively good day for us. When you get bowled out for 150, you feel you've been skittled a bit, although it was a great knock from Michael Burgess. His runs were really crucial. And the way we've bowled has wrestled some momentum back.
"I'm supposed to be playing a Test Match, but it's a shame. What happened, happened. It would have been a great end to the series.
"We were looking to win and make it 2-2. It's been a great series for everyone to watch. But I'm really pleased to be here playing for Warwickshire because I haven't played a county four-day match for quite a while. With the season coming to a conclusion and things still up for grabs, it's great to be here."
