In a harshly drawn-out game, Leicester City lost three vital points up for grabs at the King Power Stadium for hosting the Premier League champions on MD-4.

The visitors snatched away the three points quite undeservingly as the Foxes were able to hold off Pep Guardiola’s side in a stalemate situation for most of the game. A controversial offside ruled out what could have been a Jamie Vardy goal. But apart from that, the East Midlanders managed to keep Manchester City frustrated with their lack of dominance over the 90 minutes.

Definitely, without any doubt, Brendan Rodgers needs to reshuffle his side and drop some players from the next game as many positions on that squad are underperforming. Dropping points now would ultimately derail the Foxes’ season rapidly. Now is the time to use players that the club has bought in this transfer window and test if they can make a prominent difference.

Leicester City’s 3 takeaways from the game

Maddison has lost his mojo – Two days ago FoL reported on how James Maddison’s lack of creativity and offense has become a real underlying problem for Leicester City. It seems like the issue needs to be taken care of, sooner rather than later, as it is troubling the side’s performance. Playing the role of an orchestrator, Maddison has failed to show any visual intensity or hunger that could aid his fellow attackers. Over a series of games, he has been outmuscled and outmaneuvered by the oppositional defense- to such an extent that he is not even visible on the pitch at times.

The wall of Schmeichel – Kasper Schmeichel’s former club faced difficulty in penetrating their shots with the goalkeeper guarding it. The Dane was spectacular, making a total of seven saves to deny a rampant Manchester City. Sure his distribution remained a critical trait as always, but the job that he is expected to do was done best yesterday. It was very disappointing the way Bernardo Silva managed to salvage a goal due to a deflected block by Çağlar Söyüncü.

Iheanacho and Lookman are on point – Considering that the two were introduced late, into the 73rd minute of the game, they impressed us the most with their approach. Kelechi Iheanacho was stitching up the balls perfectly to create good chances for Ademola Lookman to utilize his gift of rapid pace for a finish. Lookman had two shots with one on target.

While those attempts weren’t the best, they foreshadow the fact that the Englishman could do better with more time under his belt. Iheanacho looked to be taking the minutes given to him by the gaffer very seriously.
