Two found shot to death in Cherokee home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people were found shot to death in a home in the Cherokee neighborhood, police say.

Officers responded to the scene on Amarillo Street near McCool Avenue at around 12:20 a.m. Police say a caller told officers he came home and found two people with gunshot wounds.

Both victims were pronounced dead on the scene.

Grieving family members say the victims were an elderly woman and her adult son. A source connected to the case says the grandson of the woman found shot to death is who made the discovery.

Family on the scene did not want to speak on camera, but they did say both mother and son were proud of their strong religious background.

At this time, there is no word on a possible suspect or motive. Police ask that you call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH if you have any information.
