Giants vs. Cubs odds, prediction: Don’t expect many runs

The San Francisco Giants enter the final stretch of the MLB regular season with the league’s best record, a lot of which is thanks to the emergence of Logan Webb, who will take the mound on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs.

The Giants are 14-1 in Webb’s past 15 starts as he has allowed three runs or fewer in all 15 starts, with the only start he’s allowed more than two runs in coming at elevation against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday at Coors Field.

The Cubs counter with a young starter they hope can have a bright future in the organization in Justin Steele, who has allowed three runs or fewer in four of his five starts. He has a 3-2 overall record and a 3.75 ERA with opponents hitting .205 off him.

The Giants’ bullpen entered the weekend with the MLB’s best ERA at 3.06, while the Cubs 4.14 bullpen ERA is 16th, and it may be looked to for extended work with Steele having yet to go more than five innings in a start this season.

With the Cubs’ offense entering the weekend having scored four runs or fewer in seven straight games against opponents not named the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Giants having played just one of Webb’s past 10 starts and seven of their past 25 games overall over the Total, the bats should be held silent in Chicago on Saturday.
