Manchester City defender Esme Morgan was carried off on a stretcher during her side's WSL match against Tottenham.

Morgan's injury came hours after Manchester United's Millie Turner was also carried off.

Morgan, 20, went down clutching her lower leg and required oxygen after a 50-50 challenge with Spurs defender Ashleigh Neville.

She received her first England call-up as Sarina Wiegman named her first squad since becoming manager.

The Lionesses will meet up on on Monday as they prepare for their World Cup qualifying opener against North Macedonia at St Mary's on Friday, 17 September (19:00 BST).

England international Turner, 25, was in tears with what appeared to be a serious knee injury after colliding with Foxes striker Natasha Flint during her side's 3-1 WSL win at Leicester City.

Defender Turner was also given oxygen on the pitch and had a large brace on her right knee before being stretchered off.

There were eight minutes added on following the stoppage.

More than 4,400 spectators were at the game as Leicester played their first-ever WSL match at the King Power Stadium.
