Milwaukee Bucks: 3 players being underrated on NBA 2K22

Despite winning the NBA championship just a few months ago, the Milwaukee Bucks are still being underrated by the outside world.
In this specific instance, it comes from the ratings of the best-selling NBA 2K22 video game, which was recently released to the public. To be fair, there are always controversial individual ratings for players here and there with the game, and they are subject to change as the new season goes on. This was clear after the ratings were recently revealed for Milwaukee’s leading trio, and after the title run they just went on, it seemed clear that that group did not get the credit they deserved.
With the game now available, fans can take a good look at the rosters in full, and it seems like the Bucks are being largely underrated. While there are a handful of factors that play into how a player gets rated in the game, some of them just stand out as highly questionable. With that being said, let us take a look at three Bucks that are being underrated in NBA 2K22.
Milwaukee Bucks: Bobby Portis is rated too low on NBA 2K22
Bobby Portis proved to be the perfect example of a role player with the Bucks during the 2020-21 season. While he would occasionally find himself in the starting lineup, Portis mostly came off the bench and took pride in the role. His scoring, shooting, rebounding, and immense hustle made him a key contributor for this team, and his 79 overall rating on 2K22 has drawn controversy.
Even Portis himself questioned the rating by calling it too low. Considering he was a 79 overall when 2K21 was released the year before, he has a point. The big man increased his averages in scoring, field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, rebounds, steals, and blocked shots compared to the year before. His efforts helped him earn some votes for 2021 Sixth Man of the Year, and while he may not have won it, the consideration was justifiable.
Seeing Portis’ rating stay the same after a career year in Milwaukee just is not right. In reality, he should be beyond the 80 mark without question. An 80 or 81 might not have made too much of a difference, but it would have been more respectable considering how important Portis proved to be for the Bucks throughout the 2020-21 season. He will certainly not let it eat away at him, but this rating should add some more motivation to the underdog’s shoulders.
