The Basics
Score (Match 1): Providence 3, Merrimack 0 (25-16 | 25-19 | 25-19)
Score (Match 2): Iona 3, Merrimack 0 (25-12 | 25-16 | 25-7)

Set Breakdown (Match 1):
  • The Warriors started the match with momentum, with a kill by Maalese Wallace and a pair of aces by Kayla Zinser. The Broncs retaliated with five points to bring the match back even. Three kills by Maegan Hladick and Kayla Zinser for the Warriors to take an 11-8 lead. A 13-2 run by Rider outstretched their lead, taking the final three points to take the set.
  • After Rider opened the set with a five-point sprint before Hladick and Kara Haase notched kills to bring the set even at six all. A 9-1 run by Rider gave the Broncs a lead with an ace by Megan Rumenapp and a kill by Sydney Green brought the Warriors back into the set with a 13-16 score. Three aces by Hladick combined with an ace from Zinser gave the Warriors life late in the set, before Rider closed it out to take the second.
  • Merrimack kicked off the third with a 6-2 lead, with points off of two kills from Hladick and an ace from Leestma. Teams traded points before the Broncs closed out the game with a kill.  
Set Breakdown (Match 2):
  • Rhode Island started the match with a 10-4 lead, with Merrimack notching points with three kills by Brooke Leestma, an ace by Taelyr Czech and an ace from Lauryn Mattiucci.
  • In the second set, the hosts nabbed a 10-3 lead they would sustain for the rest of the set. Maegan Hladick, Kara Haase and Brooke Lestma tallied kills for the Warriors in a match-best eight kills in the game.
  • The Rams pounced for a 15-point lead in the third set, pushed by the Warriors from kills by Hladick and Green.
Notes & Notables
  • Against Rider, Maegan Hladick led the squad with 12 kills.
  • In the second match of the day, Brooke Leestma led the group with six kills and second with five digs.
  • Lauryn Mattiucci was named to the URI Alumni Weekend Invitational All-Tournament team for the Warriors with 15 digs an ace across six sets on the day.
