15-year-old girl injured in bike collision with car Saturday

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 15-year-old girl was injured when her bicycle collided with a vehicle on Saturday, Sept. 11 in Port Washington.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:09 pm Saturday when a 15-year-old Port Washington girl was riding her bicycle east on W. Grand Avenue on the sidewalk.

Authorities say that while she was traveling eastbound she left the sidewalk, mid-block, and was struck by a west bound vehicle operated by a 53-year-old Port Washington resident.

Officials report that citizens on scene assisted with the initial medical treatment of the victim.

Police add that the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with Port Washington police officers.

Reports show that the victim was transported to Aurora Hospital in Grafton and was subsequently transferred to Children’s Hospital. 

The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.

Port Washington police say the accident remains under investigation.
