Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's concept art places Dark Rey on the planet Coruscant.

Concept artist for the movie Adam Brockbank treated his Instagram followers to one particular unrealised piece last week, which featured Daisy Ridley's scavenger-turned-Jedi in a demonic form surrounded by falling ash.

"Another 'Dark Rey' with more than a touch of the Galadriel's, on an ash strewn Coruscant," he captioned it.

Not all fans might recognise that name but Coruscant, which is usually covered by cities – its population stands at two trillion – has cropped up in varying degrees throughout George Lucas's infamous prequel movie trilogy.

As the original homeworld of the human race, it housed the Senate and the Jedi temple and its skyscrapers were the backdrop to several speeder chase scenes.

So Dark Rey's presence on a now wasteland Coruscant would have some major implications.

One of Brockbank's fans responded in the comments: "Okay but am I the only person getting Daenerys Targaryen vibes from this?! Definitely badass artwork!" while another added: "Wow this could be used for a future movie honestly I would love to see it."

Back in January, Ridley herself revealed that she was in emotional tatters during production on The Rise of Skywalker.

"When we wrapped I wept all day. I felt like I was going to pop a vein because I was crying so much. Obviously not to say that it was like grieving, but it was grieving something. I'll always have it, and we're all bonded by this incredible thing," she said.

Asked whether she'd be interested in reprising her heroine in a decade's time, the star commented: "Ten years seems an awfully long way away. I say never say never but to me, Rise of Skywalker was tied up with a bow."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+, while Rise of Skywalker is also on Sky Cinema Premiere and NOW.
