A West Allis woman is now charged in the death of her 6-year old son.
According to the criminal complaint, Hank Brown-Rockow died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, not from an apparent knife wound that brought police to the child's home on South 73rd Street.
The complaint says the child "appeared malnourished, with bruises covering his body from head to toe, including significant bruising surrounding both of his eyes."
There were also human bite marks on his body, investigators said.
The boy's mother, Tasha Rockow, 32, was charged with chronic neglect of a child, resulting in death, as well as false imprisonment.
Police said witnesses told them the child was often abused, and one said Rockow treated the boy "like a convict."
If convicted, Rockow faces at least 60 years in prison.
She was held in the Milwaukee County Jail on $151,000 cash bail.
Rockow made an initial court appearance Saturday.
She was convicted of misdemeanor child neglect in 2014.
