Stetson Bennett asked about a potential QB controversy with JT Daniels
Is there a quarterback controversy brewing in Athens? It seems unlikely, even after Stetson Bennett threw 5 touchdown passes in Georgia’s 56-7 win over UAB in Saturday’s home opener at Sanford Stadium.
The only reason Bennett was under center was because Daniels was out with an oblique injury. And last season, Daniels outperformed Bennett, who opened 2020 as the starter when Daniels was out. As long as Daniels is healthy, he seems to be the probable starting QB.
However, it was still an impressive fill-in performance for Bennett, a redshirt senior.
When speaking to the media after Saturday’s win, Bennett said he found out on Thursday that he would be starting in place of Daniels. And he shared that the Bulldogs’ QB room will believe in each other — no matter who is the starter:
STETSON: I was wondering when who was going to be (the starter) comes up. I think everyone has confidence in everyone. We are all good friends. You knew you were going to get that answer.
