Running back Logan Miranda ran for 108 yards while quarterback Coltyn Corning connected with six receivers Friday night during Fortuna High’s homecoming 35-13 win over Kelseyville.
Miranda racked up the three-digit yard count on 16 carries and also took the ball deep into enemy territory on two catches, one returning a kickoff to goal on a 85-yard run and the second a 65-yard run into the end zone after intercepting a Knights’ pass.
While the senior-year running back paced the team’s efforts, the Huskies’ offense on land was two yards shy of 200.
Breck Bishop drove the ball up a cumulative 45 yards over seven carries and reached the end zone on a run. Quin Hall’s sole run put the blue team 20 yards ahead, while Will Stringer posted 14 yards on three carries and a touchdown with a Kelseyville defensive player in tow.
Dylan Bramlett and Asa McKenzie also contributed to team rushing, with 13 and five yards respectively.
Junior-year quarterback Corning stepped onto the field dialed in, with 93 total passing yards and a successful seven out of nine passes attempted. This year’s incoming first-string QB found Rogan Gans with a touchdown pass from 20-yards away for the Huskies’ only TD throw of the night.
Corning connected twice with receiver Will May for 17 total yards, and also found Bramlett, Miranda, Jake Houseworth and Garet Elmore during regulation.
Kelseyville saw many of its offensive efforts thwarted by the home team, only being able to run the ball down 57 yards and Knights quarterback Luke Watkins completing 10 out of 16 throw attempts. Watkins completed just one touchdown pass.
The homecoming night win puts the Huskies’ varsity record at 3-0.
