White Sox vs. Red Sox Lineups: Seabold’s Maiden Voyage

wLast night’s loss to the White Sox was a pretty good summation of the Red Sox’s second half. Tanner Houck was not stellar and didn’t make it through four innings. He dug them a three-run hole that proved insurmountable, the Sox made a spirited comeback attempt and ultimately fell short. It’s an unfortunately all-too-familiar pattern that throws you between hope and cynicism at a moment’s notice.

The Red Sox have lost four of five and will send a rookie starting pitcher out to fill in for a depleted staff. Right-hander Connor Seabold, the no. 13 prospect in the Boston farm system will make his MLB debut tonight against the White Sox, Alex Cora said on Saturday afternoon. The former 19th round pick of the Baltimore Orioles headlines a still short-handed Red Sox lineup.

Seabold was 2-3 with a 3.61 ERA over 10 appearances in the Florida Complex League and Worcester. He’ll face a potent Chicago order and be tasked with helping Boston even the series against the White Sox.
