Jude Bellingham is only 18-years-old yet he is one of the most talked about players in Europe.

He set the tone at the start of his career after Birmingham City retired his shirt number when he left even though he only played for the senior side for a short period of time.

The reasoning for it was, "to remember one of our own and to inspire others" so therefore that epitomised how much of a talent he was.

Hence why there was already so many sides interested in him but Borussia Dortmund beat them all to his signature as the midfielder decided to take the path to Germany which has been popular amongst young English players.

That was only 2020 so a move so soon after joining might be complicated and also expensive.

The price though could be worth it as he has already showed he is capable on the worlds biggest stage with quality performances in the Champions League.

There has been many reports in England about the interest from Liverpool and there has been reports from Germany confirming this to be true and also explaining Borussia Dortmund's position at the moment.

Journalist Patrick Berger, who is chief reporter of SPORT1, has explained that Jurgen Klopp's old club are in a strong position when it comes to Bellingham.

Dortmund obviously do not want to sell their young superstar and have him tied down to a long term contract which ends in 2025 but most importantly there is no release clause in that contract.

So immediately Dortmund have the upper hand before any negotiations even begin

According to the report Liverpool are willing to splash £80million pounds on the Birmingham-born man but Dortmund want closer to 90 plus his price may increase over this season due to performances.

After the slightly underwhelming transfer window that has just been many fans will probably laugh these rumours off due to the high price.

However signing Bellingham would sort Liverpool's midfield for at least the next ten years and due to his age it would hint that there is a big plan for another rebuild of the squad under Jurgen Klopp.

With 19-year-old Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi also being linked for a January move it would appear that a rebuild with raw young talent is very much on the cards which is very much a positive sign with the average age of the squad being close to 30.

Even though the midfield looks very healthy with many competing for the three spaces in the current system the likes of James Milner and captain Jordan Henderson are ageing whilst of course Gini Wijnaldum has technically still not been replaced.

Bellingham could very well be the reason why Liverpool only looked at midfielders in the transfer window and did not have too much significant interest.

Also with Bellingham in the midfield it could move Harvey Elliott back in a wider position meaning in the future Liverpool could have a front three of Elliott, Kaide Gordon and Adeyemi (if he signs) which has all the potential in the world to be one of the most feared attacks around in five years time.

Jude Bellingham would be the face of the rebuild so if Klopp thinks he is a necessity then he would be more than happy to splash the cash on him but obviously it would come down to whether FSG have the money to spend.

With life in many ways being back to what you can call normal and fans being back in stadiums next summer the finances may not be as big of an issue as they've been over the past 18 months due to the pandemic.

Obviously though the price would mean it would be a record signing for Liverpool so it will be very difficult either way.

It is certainly a potential deal to get slightly excited about whilst this long season unfolds in front of us.

Hopefully for Liverpool Klopp's good relations with Borussia Dortmund can help them when the negotiations possibly start next summer.
