Dan Mullen will have a decision to make this week with Alabama coming to Gainesville next week. How he decides on his starting quarterback against the Crimson Tide may come down to the hamstring of Anthony Richardson.

Mullen offered an update on Richardson’s health after the game.

“He does special things,” Mullen said, per G. Allan Taylor. “Doesn’t always do the right thing, but he does special things.”

He added that Richardson’s hamstring “tightened up” on him following the 80-yard touchdown run in the second half of the win over South Florida.

Mullen will likely continue to face questions about his decision at starting quarterback next week as Emory Jones struggled at times, while Richardson was 3-for-3 passing for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 115 rushing yards on 4 carries. Jones was 14-for-22 passing for 151 yards, a touchdown and 2 interceptions. Jones had 82 rushing yards on 11 carries with a touchdown.

However, Mullen told reporters that Jones is the starter and Florida will play both QBs. About Jones’ 2 interceptions, Mullen said, “The first one was a bad one. The second one, he just has to speed up his read.”
