WORTHINGTON -- The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team hasn't been very successful against technical schools lately.
One day after losing a home match 3-0 to St. Cloud Tech, the Jays were beaten at home again on Saturday, 3-1, to Western Tech. Scores were 19-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-27.
The fourth set was tight, but West had to come from a 9-point deficit to make it close. Head coach Brittney McNab said the Lady Jays were flat for most of the way. "I think we have to work on a lot of communication and trust," she said. "I need somebody to step up and be in charge."
Kennedy Buckenberg had 11 kills and 21 digs for the Jays, and Shelby Christensen added nine kills and 13 digs. Julia Russel had 15 digs. Emma Keith and Taya Mason had 17 and 12 set assists, respectively.
McNab said she's got a strong passing team this year, and the girls show good court coverage and movement. The hitting is fine, as well.

"We have everything that we need," she said, while adding that consistency from the setting position needs to get sharper.
