Dom McKay’s exit from Celtic after just a few months at the club was certainly a surprise one. Although, it is understandable considering it was because of personal reasons on the part of McKay. And we would like to wish him and his family the very best moving forward.

His departure has certainly raised quite a few questions about the future of the club though. It appeared that the Hoops were moving in a different direction this summer and they had certainly made quite a few good decisions during McKay’s time at the club.

Appointing Ange Postecoglou as the manager was certainly one of them. He has come in and shown that he can be the man to take Celtic back to the top of the Premiership. Of course, following McKay’s departure, many have questioned whether the manager will continue to get the backing that he needs to turn things around at Parkhead.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, speaking about the situation, Postecoglou said:

"“We have to be careful with the narrative of who brought me to the club.“I was surprised as anyone that Dom resigned but I am going to be respectful of him and his family. When people cite personal reasons, there’s reasons for that.“Michael Nicholson is now in charge and that’s good because I already know him.”"

Celtic need to continue to back Postecoglou

Postecoglou has already shown that he has the quality to take this team places. At times, they have played some incredible football and even went on a six game winning streak in the middle when they managed to outscore their opponents 24 to 4. While results have been mixed till now, there is a lot to excited about for the future.

One also has to consider that this team is coming off of a very disappointing 2020/21 campaign, when they went trophyless and finished 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership table. Thus, the improvement in the performances in such a short span of time has certainly been very impressive.

As a result, the club need to continue to back Postecoglou moving forward. While the squad has been strengthened over the summer, the depth is still not great in certain positions. Hopefully, they will bring in more players in the January transfer window, especially with the J1 League season over at that point of time.
