We followed a rabbit hole from Pickup Truck Talk to an Instagrammer with the handle gearrunner to find leaked photos of the 2022 Toyota Tundra’s interior. The images were reportedly submitted to him by subscribers.

It’s unclear who took the photos or where they originated from, but they possibly display the first look at the uncovered vehicle and the interior. Now we have an idea of what to expect before the third generation finally makes its debut.

The new Toyota Tundra should come out any day now, as new models are expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of the year. Some rumors suggest that the Tundra will be revealed at the Texas State Fair on September 19 because the truck is manufactured there.

So, fingers crossed. But until that date arrives in about a week, let’s assess these potential spy shots to see if we should be impressed or disappointed.

Did the Tundra receive enough interior updates?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is expected to have a refreshed modern interior with new features and new tech. The photos don’t seem to disappoint because you can see a massive new infotainment screen emerging from the dash.

We’ve seen teasers about a new wireless phone charger being added to the mix, and there is space for one to the right of the gear shifter. But perhaps these photos are of the base model because it seems bland like the Pickup Truck Talk team mentions.

It has the same silver-colored plastic material around the air vents, and the dashboard looks like it’s covered in black plastic. But the center console looks like it includes soft-touch materials and a more convenient layout.

There could be an analog gauge behind the wheel with a small digital display cluster, which isn’t the best for a 2022 model. We know to expect a red interior with the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro model and a massive panoramic moonroof from other sources. But these details won’t be confirmed until the Tundra comes out.

What else to expect with the 2022 Tundra

The 2022 Toyota Tundra will ride on the TNGA-F platform that underpins the new Land Cruiser 300. It should also incorporate more high-strenght steel and improved rigidity for a smoother ride.

Plus, it’s ditching the traditional leaf springs for a new coil-spring, multi-link rear suspension. The new Tundra multi-terrain select allows you to choose off-roading modes for dirt, sand, deep snow, rock, and auto. There’s also a new crawl control mode.

The Tundra is expected to have two new engines. A more powerful option will replace its current 5.7-liter V8 engine with 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. Also, the iForce Max engine could be a hybrid option. We will keep an eye out for more updates as they come.
