Metalcore outfit Bullet For My Valentine has released another music video “Shatter,” which will be featured on their upcoming self-titled album out on October 22 via Spinefarm and Search & Destroy Records. This latest music video was edited by Sara Faulkner, who worked on the band’s previous music videos for “Knives” and “Parasite,” the latter of which debuted back in July. VFX artist Gabriel Thomas Ayache also worked on the project, which hosts additional designs from Carl Addy, also known as ulcerboy.
“Shatter” is adeptly named as the striking riffs, pounding drum blows and overall aggression create a sense of chaos and destruction that captures the visceral imagery of objects shattering. Lead vocalist Matt Tuck complements this energy with equally harsh vocals, shouting “I don’t exist/ I was never alive/ But now I know I’m ready to die.” The music video is equal parts hypnotic and charged, as its dark tones shapeshift throughout the entirety of the song.
“We’re very excited for you all to hear our new track ‘Shatter,'” the band explained in a press release. “It’s one of our personal favorites and we’re pretty sure it’ll be one of yours. It’s an absolute sledgehammer of a track with riffs for days. Let the head banging commence!”
Originally formed in 1998, Bullet For My Valentine have changed their style throughout the years, starting off with an aggressive metalcore sound during the mid 2000s, before transitioning into a more alternative metal sound during 2018’s Gravity. This latest single is a return to their metalcore roots, capturing the trademark aggression that launched their career.
