On Sept. 10, Eleonora Buratto and Francesco Meli represented the opera world on the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival.

The two celebrated singers attended the famed Film Festival for the premiere of Ridley Scott’s new movie “The Last Duel.” Cartier hosted the event and presented Scott with the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award.

Meli and Buratto, who are both ambassadors for the brand known as “friends of Cartier,” first attended a private concert and lunch hosted by the luxury jeweler before gracing the red carpet.

Both singers took to social media to praise the event with Buratto noting, “A waking dream‼️ Thank you to Cartier for wanting opera to be on the most prestigious red carpet by inviting Francesco Meli and me to the evening dedicated to Sir Ridley Scott and for letting me wear their most iconic jewelry. Thank you to Chiara Boni, Casadei, and Dolce & Gabbana who have pampered me and dressed me so splendidly. Long live cinema, which never ceases to make our dreams come alive.”

Meanwhile, Meli noted, “I spent a few magnificent hours at the Venice Film Festival as a guest of Cartier, with Eleonora Buratto, both of us ‘Friends of Cartier.’ I was won over by the overwhelming exhilaration of the Festival, getting to know people and artists full of charisma. Above all, I applauded ‘The Last Duel,’ an out of competition film by Sir Ridley Scott and I rejoiced for the ‘Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award’ which Cartier awarded to the eminent English film director.

This month Meli is set to return to the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino for a new production of “La Traviata,” while Buratto is currently performing a revival of Verdi’s “Falstaff” at the Wiener Staatsoper.

“The Last Duel” stars Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Ben Affleck, and Jodie Comer.
