Coronation Street's Daisy Midgeley has got a lot to answer for: forcing Carol through that whole nasty Double Glammy business, wanting to seduce Daniel Osbourne after learning he's inheriting a house, and breaking up Ryan Connor and Alya Nazir.

Still, actress Sair Khan thinks that the couple could reunite, despite Daisy's meddling. In fact, she really wants it to happen.

"[Alya's] trying to put on a brave face, like she doesn't care about Ryan but deep down she loves him and she wants him back. She's fighting with herself, there's a massive conflict between her head and her heart.

"Also now she knows it wasn't all Ryan's fault and she knows about Daisy's manipulation it makes the whole thing a little bit more complicated. She doesn't want to let Ryan off the hook too easily but she is definitely still pining for him.

"Since the whole Daisy controversy and the break up I've realised how fully invested I am in them as a couple. I'm really interested to see where the relationship could go next.

"On the face of it they're not well suited at all, he's a bit of a joker, sort of a lost puppy but I think that complements Alya really well. She can be a bit highly strung, maybe a bit stuck up at times. He really brings out the softer, more playful side to her.

"She's had to be so tough for so long she’s struggled to see the lighter side of life, so I think they are a good pairing."

It was recently revealed that the soap would be revisiting the sinkhole storyline from last year, but this time it will be a huge tram crash-level event that will result in at least one death.

Let's hope it's not Ryan or Alya – but we certainly wouldn't mind if it was Daisy.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
