Former ESPN star Mike Golic lands new job

Finally, Mike Golic will be paired with another Mike again.

This time it will be Mike Florio rather than Mike Greenberg, as Golic has joined “Pro Football Talk.”

Golic, the longtime ESPN co-host and analyst who also was one-half of the radio shows “Mike & Mike” and “Golic & Wingo” for two decades, will analyze the weekend’s games each Monday during the 2021 NFL season.

“It’s so great to have Mike Golic join the show,” Mike Florio said in a press release. “I could be wrong, but I think it’s the first time in broadcasting history that a morning show that focuses on sports will be hosted by two guys named Mike.”

The 58-year-old former defensive lineman has not had a consistent platform since he left ESPN last year as the network cut costs and reshuffled its radio lineup.

He worked as a college football analyst the final months of 2020 after the network canceled Golic’s radio show with Trey Wingo.

“S–t, is it a blow to the ego? Sure. To anybody it would be,” Golic told The Athletic in June. “But when you are there for as long as you are, and all of a sudden it’s not even discussed to keep you there. Yeah, that’s a blow to the ego. But that’s life.”

“Pro Football Talk” airs live on Peacock weekdays at 7 a.m. and again at 9 a.m. on NBCSN.
