SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic said he wanted to talk to the best defensive player in the SEC.

So he found Alabama softball star pitcher Montana Fouts

On the SEC Nation pregame show Saturday, Cubelic ended up trying to catch a few pitches from Fouts on the Alabama softball field.

And he failed, badly.

Dressed in full catcher's gear, Cubelic ducked Fouts' first pitch and struggled on the next two.

"That was pretty close," Fouts said after the third pitch, where the former Auburn offensive lineman finally got at least a glove on the ball.

Cubelic is in Tuscaloosa to call Alabama football's game vs. Mercer on Saturday with Tom Hart and Jordan Rodgers on SEC Network. Fouts is coming off a historically great 2021 season, winning NFCA Pitcher of the Year, SEC Co-Pitcher of the Year, SEC Tournament MVP and being named an All-American. She'll be back as a senior on the mound in 2022.

"Pressure is a privilege," Fouts told Cubelic when asked what he did wrong. "You gotta take it."
