LESLIE, MI -- The cronut at Main Street Bakery & Cafe in Leslie isn’t something you’ll find just anywhere.

The pastry is a cross between a croissant and a doughnut and is glazed with sugar and will melt in your mouth. (Trust us, we tried it.)

“It’s not the healthiest for you,” owner Dominic Ambroggio said. “It’s a treat. It’s not something you should have every single day.”

Ambroggio has owned the business with his wife, Kristen, since October 2020.

Apple fritters, cinnamon rolls and the sourdough twists are very popular items, Ambroggio said. The twists are made with sourdough bread with asiago cheese and garlic or jalapeno with asiago cheese and only available on Saturdays.

Vienna and Italian breads are made daily. Cinnamon swirl and cinnamon raisin breads are available on Thursdays. On Fridays, they bake ciabatta and multigrain breads.

A variety of doughnuts, cookies and other treats are also available. Click into the gallery above to see the maple bacon long john, apple fritters, cookies, cannoli and more.

The business has been successful, Ambroggio said.

“It’s been definitely a good thing. The community has loved it,” he said. “We have ended up doing very well.”

Ambroggio takes pride in giving back to the Leslie community.

“We take value in people spending their money here,” he said. “We make sure the quality is there.”
