Saints are hunting for their first win of the new Premier League campaign, but have a tough test on their hands as they welcome in-form West Ham United to St Mary’s Stadium this afternoon.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed that Stuart Armstrong and Will Smallbone remain injured. Neither player has made an appearance for Southampton so far this season.

Saints will also miss Theo Walcott, who has an unspecified “minor issue”, and Shane Long, who tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty for the Republic of Ireland.

West Ham manager David Moyes has better team news ahead of his side’s visit.

The Scot has a full squad at his disposal and suggested that his trio of new signings - Kurt Zouma, Alex Kral, and Nikola Vlasic - could all feature at St Mary’s.
