After Danilo Gallinari was traded from the LA Clippers to the OKC Thunder, he said that he was going to prioritize winning over money. The season that he then had with the Thunder allowed him to focus on both and this is where the Atlanta Hawks came in.

Gallinari is a man with strong loyalty so after the Thunder helped increase his value. As such he signed a three-year $61.0 million deal as part of the sign and trade which lead to him becoming a member of the Hawks. The good news for the Hawks is that it only cost them two future second-round picks, and the final season of his deal has only $5.0 million guaranteed.

This could lead the Hawks to trade Gallinari throughout the season as it is a really tempting contract for both contenders and rebuilding teams. However, the Hawks are in win-now mode, and Gallinari, who was huge for them in the playoffs, the team will want him on board for this tilt at the title.

The Atlanta Hawks were a better team with Danilo Gallinari.

At various points throughout the season, Gallinari looked like a better fit for the Hawk’s system than John Collins was. However, the two players bring a different set of skills to the team, and both of them are very helpful when they are on the court.

Now, at the age of 33, Gallinari has developed his game and skillset much more but there is still plenty for the veteran to learn. Let’s take a look at some of the legends Gallinari should study to help get that small gain to potentially push the Hawks closer to the title.
