A Quincy man was arrested on firearms and parole violation charges Friday afternoon.

Quincy Police executed a search warrant for the residence of 28 year old Deonte Jones in the 500 block of North 5th about 5 p.m. Friday. The search uncovered a loaded firearm.

About that same time, Jones was located by officers in the 2400 block of Broadway. A search of Jones revealed a second loaded firearm.

Police also note that Jones is on parole for a previous arrest and conviction for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jones is in the Adams County Jail on new charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and parole violation.

Pike County IL Traffic Crash

No one is hurt but a ticket is issued after a two vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 72 at milepost 33 north of Pittsfield in Pike County at 3 p.m. Friday.

The State Police reports a 17 year old juvenile female from Quincy was eastbound, failed to reduce speed and struck an SUV being towed by a motorhome, driven by 71 year old David Handy of Lewistown, Illinois.

No injuries were reported. The juvenile was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
