Union, N.J. (9/10/21) – The Kean University women's soccer team got on the board early and let those tallies hold up by defeating the College of Mt. St. Vincent, 2-0, on Friday evening.
The game was rescheduled from an away match on Saturday, September 11th to a home match this evening due to flood damage at CMSV's field.
Just over two minutes into the action, Sophia Lang lofted a direct kick into the box that was punched out by the keeper. Vanessa Leon then headed the rebound into the top of the net for the game's first goal.
Gracie Casais used a fast break down the sideline, beating two defenders on multiple occasions and buried an insurance goal at the 21:12 mark, squeaking one inside the left post.
The Cougars (2-2) were in attack mode throughout the evening, holding a 22-10 advantage in shots and an impressive 12-0 mark in corner opportunities.
Rookie Julia Masucci made five stops for Kean in the win.
The Cougars travel to their first away match of the season on Wednesday when they face Manhattanville College.
