The Yankees have played like crap over the past week, failing to win a single baseball game since eking out an extra-innings victory over an awful Orioles team last Friday. Still, at that point, they were a game and a half above Boston in the Wild Card race, and six and a half in front of Toronto, who trailed three other teams.
So much can change in just a handful of days at this point in the season. If the Yankees lose tonight and the Blue Jays do what the Yankees were unable to do for most of last weekend (beat the Orioles), then the collapse will be complete.
