Minnesota Supreme Court Associate Justice Gordon Moore has been named featured speaker for the annual King Turkey Day festival on Sept. 18.
Moore grew up in Rochester and graduated from Mayo High School in 1981. He graduated from Carleton College, with a history major, in 1985, and graduated from University of Iowa College of Law in 1988.
Moore was hired as a special assistant attorney general and worked at the Minnesota Attorney General's Office from 1988 to 1995. He was an associate at Malters Shepherd Von Holtum from February 1995 to December 2002, and was Nobles County Attorney from January 2003 to February 2012. Moore was then appointed a Minnesota District Court judge and served in that capacity until July 2020.
Appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court by Gov. Tim Walz, Moore began serving in that role on Aug. 3, 2020
A Minnesota sports fan (the Wild, the Loons, the Twins, the Vikings, likely in that order); he enjoys reading and spending time with his family, which includes three children (all Worthington High School graduates) and his wife, Jane. Moore has enjoyed time as a youth sports coach in past years (soccer, hockey) and announcing play by play for WHS hockey. He continues to volunteer on the board of the Worthington Dollars for Scholars Chapter, and is also now on the board of the Minnesota State Supreme Court Historical Society.
Moore will speak on Worthington's 10th Street beginning at 1 p.m. The speech will be followed by the Great Gobbler Gallop -- Ruby Begonia vs. Worthington's own Paycheck -- at approximately 1:30 p.m.
