Kansas man inured after gravel packer, semi crash

STANTON COUNTY—One person was injured in a construction zone accident just after 9p.m. Friday in Stanton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Bomag Packer driven by James C. Webb, 64, Mantor, was packing gravel in the northbound lane at Big Bow Grade Road one mile south of Road 17.

The packer made a wide turn in the roadway and made contact with a southbound 2004 Kenworth semi driven by  Isidro Avila-Lara, 36,  Ulysses, just before the  rear axles,

The impact caused the axles to come apart from the trailer.

EMS transported Webb to Stanton County Hospital. Avila-Lara was not injured.  Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
