Barcelona signed only one player over the recent summer transfer window, although it subsequently sold that player as fullback Emerson departed to Tottenham. But now, Barca club president Joan Laporta is looking ahead to retooling the team—and he wants to begin this task with one possible major signing.

As noted by Oriol Domenech on the Spanish-based show Onze, Barca is eyeing the upcoming winter transfer window as a way to improve the club at what will be the midway point of the season. For the moment, Barca club officials will have between €60-€70 million at their disposal to spend on possible transfer deals.

The Catalan giants are already targeting one player for the transfer window in January: RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo.

The report further added that Barcelona views Olmo as a priority transfer target. More so, Olmo is also eyeing a move to Barca, although he has three more years remaining on his current contract at RB Leipzig.

Earlier this year, the Spanish international was in the rumor mill over a move to Barca — a club in which he spent time in its famed La Masia academy before leaving for Dinamo Zagreb’s youth system.

The RB Leipzig talent recently confirmed the rumors that Barca made a late move to sign him over the summer transfer window, but for now, he is well focused on making the most out of his run with the Bundesliga side.

Olmo has surely raised his transfer value over the past year thanks to his quality performances in all competitions. The versatile playmaker notched 14 goal contributions in Bundesliga play last season, which helped him earn a spot in Spain's Euro 2020 squad list and also in Spain's U23 team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

After a chaotic summer transfer window, Barca club officials now aspire to build the team around promising talents.
