Through 3 Quarters

Down two at the end of last quarter, the Miami (FL) Hurricanes have now snagged the lead. After three quarters neither team has the contest in the bag, but the Hurricanes lead 19-17 over the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

Miami (FL) has been relying on QB D'Eriq King, who has accumulated 178 passing yards in addition to picking up 66 yards on the ground, and RB Cam'Ron Harris, who has punched in one rushing touchdown. Appalachian State has been riding high on the performance of RB Camerun Peoples, who has rushed for one TD and 96 yards on 15 carries.

What to Know

The Appalachian State Mountaineers will take on the Miami (FL) Hurricanes at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. Appalachian State will be seeking to avenge the 45-10 loss they suffered the last time these two teams played Sept. 17 of 2016.

The Mountaineers netted a 33-19 win over the East Carolina Pirates last Thursday. Among those leading the charge for Appalachian State was RB Camerun Peoples, who rushed for two TDs and 100 yards on 14 carries.

Appalachian State's defense was a presence as well, as it got past East Carolina's offensive line to sack QB Holton Ahlers four times for a total loss of 27 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.

Meanwhile, Miami (FL) was expected to have a tough go of it last week, and, well, they did. Things couldn't have gone much worse for them as they lost 44-13 to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Hurricanes were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 27-3. QB D'Eriq King had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball once with only 179 yards passing.

Appalachian State's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Miami (FL)'s loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll see if the Mountaineers can repeat their recent success or if Miami (FL) bounces back and reverse their fortune.
