‘Sunday Slamboree’ wrestling event to benefit ‘The Mountain Man’

If you’re a fan of wrestling and would like to help a local family through tough times, mark your calendar for the Sunday Slamboree.

This is a special wrestling event that will benefit the family of Richard Bailey, or as you might know him by his stage name ‘The Mountain Man.’

Bailey passed away shortly after he tested positive for COVID-19.

He wrestled for almost 40 years and was a wrestler with Diamond Championship Wrestling.

They called him Mountain Man for a good reason as he stood 6 feet tall and weighed 400 pounds.

Those who knew Bailey would often say he was a ‘big guy with a big heart.’ Diamond Championship Wrestling Owner Gene Miller said, “He trained a lot of the local wrestlers. His nature is gentle giant like they said about most of them. Great guy to talk to. He had more stories than you can think of. We used to sit in the locker room. He would tell stories and we would all laugh, but on the other side if you needed help with something, he was there, too. He would have good answers on the business or the wrestling aspect.”

Doors open at the event at 3 p.m. and the show starts at 4 p.m. All proceeds go toward helping the family with funeral arrangements.
