Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is working with his team to determine how to enforce President Joe Biden’s new COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
He said this is not the first state mandate for vaccines and the vaccine mandate in government workplaces is going very well.
Northam believes this is a biological war the country is facing. He believes everyone needs to get the shot to put the pandemic to an end.
“It’s unfortunate we have to mandate things but the only way we are going to get this pandemic behind us is to get people vaccinated," he said.
A handful of people showed up to his appearance to support Roanoke LEAPS mobile food cart Friday afternoon. They held signs against any type of vaccine mandate.
The governor said lots of options are on the table when asked if any further mandates or vaccine requirements could be coming. He did add the safest place for children is in schools.
However, he noted that children are also most safe around individuals who are vaccinated.
