Vikings at Bengals: Final injury reports for both teams

No Anthony Barr for Minnesota

NFL: AUG 04 Minnesota Vikings Training Camp

We are a little less than 48 hours away from kickoff at Paul Brown Stadium between the Cincinnati Bengals and your Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season. That can only mean that it’s time to take a look at the final injury reports for both teams involved in Sunday’s contest.

We’ll start with the road team, as we generally do, including a significant piece of the Vikings’ defense sitting this one out.

Minnesota Vikings Week 1 Injury Report

Player Position Injury Wednesday Thursday Friday Sunday Status

Christian Darrisaw OT Groin LP LP LP Out

Alexander Mattison RB Ribs FP FP FP ---

Dede Westbrook WR Knee FP FP FP ---

Yes, after getting a practice in early in the week, linebacker Anthony Barr sat out both Thursday and Friday and will miss his 15th consecutive game for the Minnesota defense. Offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw will also miss this one as he continues to recover from his groin issues, but hopefully he’s closer to getting back on the field.

Now, on to the home team, with a much shorter report to look at.

Cincinnati Bengals Week 1 Injury Report

Yes, the Bengals filed exactly the same injury report all three days this week, with former Viking Trae Waynes having been ruled out early in the week. Hill and Wilcox are a little farther down on the Cincinnati depth chart, but they’ll be available for the Bengals for this week’s contest.

Those are your final injury reports for the Vikings and Bengals heading into this weekend’s season opener, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll have much more for you on this one as we get closer to kickoff in Cincinnati.
