WASHINGTON, D.C. (WHCU) — Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer are calling again on Congress to extend funding for the World Trade Center Health Program.
The 9/11 Responder and Survivor Health Funding Correction Act would allow over 100,000 first responders and survivors to continue receiving necessary medical treatment. The WTCHP was originally established back in 2011 to support those effected by the toxins from Ground Zero.
The legislation would also develop a research program to study the psychological impact on children who attended school in the disaster area.
Joining Senators Gillibrand and Schumer in support of the bill are New York Representatives Carolyn B. Maloney , Jerrold Nadler, Andrew Garbarino, and most recently Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.
