NCAA Adds Day Off to Regionals

CHN Staff Report

An off day has been added to the NCAA Tournament Regionals, beginning this season. Teams advancing in the regional rounds will get the extra day of rest between games for the first time.

The Division I Competition Oversight Committee approved the change recommended by the Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee.

The NCAA said the rationale for making the change includes giving the players additional rest and recovery time.

Along with the necessary rest, this provides more equity for all the teams when it comes to the game times, the NCAA said.

This year's Regionals are scheduled to begin March 24, with exact dates/times to be announced. This year's four sites are Albany, Allentown, Loveland and Worcester.
