News4’s Jackie Bensen spoke to a witness who saw the fight between the officer and a man who police say had two replicas of weapons.
An officer fatally shot a man Friday afternoon after police say the man had a confrontation with the officer and pulled out replicas of weapons at an apartment complex in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
The off-duty officer was working a second job at the apartment complex in the 1100 block of Owens Road about 12:45 p.m., when he saw the man at the front desk and realized the man was banned from coming in the building on Thursday, Prince George's County Police Chief Malik Aziz said.
The man wouldn't comply with the officer's commands to leave and they got into a "physical altercation," police said.

They eventually continued the fight outside on the street, where the man took out what looked like a gun from a bag, Aziz said.
He tried to fire the weapon at the officer, but it appeared to malfunction and the man threw it down, Aziz said.
Then, the officer used a Taser on the suspect two times, but the man wouldn't comply, Aziz said.

The suspect then took out what looked like a long gun, and the officer told him
to drop the weapon, but the man did not drop the long gun, Aziz said.
"The officer then fired his service weapon multiple times, striking and killing the decedent," Aziz said.
Investigators said the two weapons were “realistic replicas of a handgun and a long gun.”
Neighbors told News4 that they heard eight shots: six in rapid succession and two right after.
The officer had some minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he received treatment for injuries to his hand. He also suffered some type of facial injury, Aziz said. "He is doing well at this point in time."
Authorities are investigating whether the officer had a camera.
