Eastside communities can celebrate the sixth Welcoming Week in Bellevue today through Sept. 19

The more-than-week-long event will host a number of both indoor and outdoor cultural activities, art installations, and a community fair, all celebrating diversity and the week’s theme of ‘Belonging Begins with Us.’

PopUp StoryWalk, “Drawn Together” Sep. 4-25, dawn to dusk

Take the Lake to Lake Trail from Wilburton Hill Park to Bellevue Botanical Garden for the local literacy program PopUpStoryWalk presentation of “Drawn Together,” a story from the diversity series that shows how art can foster connections cross generationally and culturally.

Cultural Conversations, Belonging in the Garden, Friday, Sep. 17, 1-2:30 p.m.

Join the informal storytelling series Belonging in the Garden at the Gathering Place covered outdoor space at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. Make connections and celebrate difference through shared stories and traditions.

Bellwether, Sep. 9-19 (and all month at Bellevue Botanical Garden and Bellevue Arts Museum), various times 

The yearly Bellwether Art and Cultural event runs alongside Welcoming Week and features exhibits at both Bellevue Botanical Garden, Bellevue Downtown Park, and Bellevue Arts Museum all month long.

Tree Talks at Bellevue Botanical Garden, Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Join in a conversation about trees and their importance both cross-culturally and as a benefit to Bellevue’s landscape and its urban forest preservation efforts. Discussion will be in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean.

Community Connections Fair at Crossroads Park Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Join the Bellevue Family YMCA and its partners for a Community Connections Fair with a number of organizations led by local Black, African, Latino, Asian, South Asian, Muslim, and immigrant communities. Connect, find support, and learn about volunteer opportunities and outlets for becoming involved.
